Holy cow. That was the most all-over-the-place storytelling ever. After 100 pages, I asked my bf if it gets any better or more cohesive. He said no, and that was it -- DNF FTW. Like The Three Musketeers or Pride and Prejudice.

The Goldfinch is on my list, but I sort of just go by feel and what I'm into at any given moment, which has been mostly YA novels lately. So, we'll see.

If you liked Let's Pretend This Never Happened, you should definitely read Hyperbole and a Half. I'm about to start 'In the Dutch Mountains' by Cees Nooteboom, which I've wanted to read for 10 years but have only just found an english copy of. Adding 'the long run' and 'the goldfinch' to my summer reading list... i have some long plane rides coming up!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8576247921509925121.post-31784745860418918532014-05-30T14:50:19.933-07:002014-05-30T14:50:19.933-07:00Death in Venice made me shudder with it's paed...Death in Venice made me shudder with it's paedophilia themes. I do love me some Vonnegut but have only read maybe 3 of his, so still plenty more out there. I did read "I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings" in high school, but I've never been much able to get into poetry (at least not in collection form).Angela Knottshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01596658700954456205noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8576247921509925121.post-65866194992397803932014-05-30T12:20:00.320-07:002014-05-30T12:20:00.320-07:00I think you are on to something!I think you are on to something!Angela Knottshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01596658700954456205noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8576247921509925121.post-44346604007972492042014-05-30T12:14:30.953-07:002014-05-30T12:14:30.953-07:00It seems that a love of running and a love of book...It seems that a love of running and a love of books seem to go hand in hand. So many runners are readers. Is it because running makes us tired and reading's a nice thing to do when you're tired.Charhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13819714901550763235noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8576247921509925121.post-66037675747333174492014-05-30T12:04:17.060-07:002014-05-30T12:04:17.060-07:00In honour of the Italy holidays, what about some U...In honour of the Italy holidays, what about some Umberto Eco? I enjoyed Name of the Rose and Foucault's Pendulum. There's also Thomas Mann's Death in Venice. :) I'm also fond of Kurt Vonnegut. How do you feel about poetry? What about some Maya Angelou?Gracehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08281336239355942919noreply@blogger.com
