And there's a whole subset of people who are extrinsically motivated to exercise - by the fact that it's good for them in the long run, by commitments to friends at the gym, etc. The paper I just linked to describes all the different levels of extrinsic motivation. It's a bit jargon-y, but worth reading! <br /><br />Also, if I tried to do a push-up with a weight plate on my back, I feel like it would surely slide off and hit me in the head. Colour me impressed.
